The Defense Intelligence Agency’s Defense Attaché Service (DAS) Hall of Fame was established in 1988 to honor DAS personnel who have served with great distinction and who have made unique contributions to the United States while serving in a Defense Attaché Office. The entire Intelligence Community was invited to nominate present or former military attachés and other DAS members for induction into the Hall of Fame.

Qualities of Defense Attaché Service Hall of Fame members include versatility, innovation, regional expertise, and language fluency. Many have demonstrated courage in hostile environments when faced with personal danger and death. They have provided critical reporting and significant assistance during major military conflicts and initiated programs to improve relations with their host countries. All have made unique and significant contributions to the Defense Attaché Service while epitomizing the warrior diplomat.
