DIA Acting Director David Shedd today announced that Janice Glover-Jones will become the agency’s chief information officer (CIO), effective Dec. 28. Glover-Jones is DIA’s current deputy CIO and has served as the acting CIO since the departure of her predecessor in October.
In announcing her selection, Shedd said, “Janice assumes this key role at a most crucial time for DIA and the intelligence enterprise. Her years of experience; keen leadership skills; and expert knowledge of our people, our mission, and the intelligence community’s predominant effort to field the Intelligence Community Information Technology Enterprise (IC ITE) initiative make her the right officer to be our next CIO.”
Glover-Jones began her federal career as a GS-1 administrative assistant at the Department of Commerce in 1984 and has been at DIA for the past 28 years, where she has served in a series of successively more important positions, including budget analyst, intelligence officer, senior program manager, deputy chief financial executive and deputy CIO.
As CIO, Glover-Jones will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a global information technology (IT) organization with over 4,000 employees and approximately a $1 billion budget that provides IT support to more than 60,000 customers worldwide.
Glover-Jones was born in Camden, SC, and graduated from the University of Maryland University College with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management. She holds a Certification in Advanced Public Policy Leadership through a joint program from the School of Business at George Washington University and the Brookings Institute. She also earned a certificate from the IC Executive Leader Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
