David Shedd becomes acting director of DIA

David Shedd became the acting director of the Defense Intelligence Agency Aug. 7. He will serve in this role until the agency’s 19th director is appointed.

Since August 2010, Shedd has served as DIA’s deputy director, assisting in leading the agency’s more than 16,500 military and civilian employees worldwide. Prior to that, he was the director of national intelligence deputy for policy, plans and requirement, where he was responsible for overseeing the formulation and implementation of major intelligence community policies.

An intelligence community veteran, Shedd has held positions at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the National Security Council and the Central Intelligence Agency. Shedd holds a bachelor’s degree from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Penn., and a master’s in Latin American studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
