Mobilization Assistant to the Director

Major General Harry E. Miller, Jr., is the Mobilization Assistant to the Director, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Washington, D.C. He is the principal advisor to the Director regarding the effective integration and employment of Reserve forces supporting the DIA from across the services. He also serves as the Director of the Reserve Integration Office and as a Special Assistant to the Director, DIA. He formerly served as the Commander, 42d Infantry Division, New York Army National Guard.

Major General Miller is a special forces officer with assignments in Germany, Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Lewis, WA, the New Hampshire National Guard, Arlington VA, the New York National Guard, Washington, D.C. and two deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He has commanded at the company, detachment, battalion, and division levels. His commands include B Battery, 3-4 Air Defense Artillery, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC, Operational Detachment Alpha-196, 3d Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, WA, Operational Detachment Bravo-190, 3d Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, 54th Troop Command, New Hampshire Army National Guard, and the 42nd Infantry Division, New York Army National Guard.

Other key assignments include Director, Doctrine, Training, and Force Development (J7), National Guard Bureau, Senior Commander Fort Drum, NY, and Assistant Adjutant General-Army, New York National Guard.

Major General Miller has an Associate of Arts degree from Valley Forge Military Jr. College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Washington and Jefferson College, a Master’s in Business Administration degree from Saint Martin’s College, and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit (1OLC), the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), the Special Forces Tab, the Ranger Tab, the Master Parachutist Badge and the Royal Thai Airborne Badge.
