New America Foundation talks ‘Future of War,’ armed drones at Distinguished Speaker Series

By DIA Public Affairs

DIA hosted five members of the New America Foundation April 28 to discuss war in the 21st century and the foundation’s “Future of War” Project.

Peter Bergen, Thomas Ricks, Rosa Brooks, Sascha Meinrath and Tim Maurer met with DIA seniors and the workforce to share their perspectives on the Future of War, a project that explores the changing nature of war and the evolution of how war is defined.

During the nonattribution session, the presenters discussed the rate of change; cyber security, strategy and warfare; unmanned vehicles and armed drones; and revamping military institutions. The panel also took questions from the workforce ranging from weapons platforms, unrestricted warfare and thinking beyond the categories of war and peace.
