At his first congressional hearing as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Lt. Gen. Jeff Kruse joined other intelligence community leaders on March 11-12 for the presentation of the IC’s Annual Threat Assessment – shedding light on the many growing and evolving threats facing the nation. Among the topics he highlighted: strategic competition with China, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and modernization of the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System, which the Agency oversees.
The two-day hearing was held by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, followed by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. On the panel with Lt. Gen. Kruse were the directors of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Security Agency, and U.S. Department of State Bureau of Intelligence and Research.
The assessment represents the IC’s collective findings on worldwide threats to the United States. Transcripts of both sessions are available online.
