As a DIA field human intelligence (HUMINT) collector, you will provide actionable intelligence to our warfighters working on the front lines of our nation's defense. As you immerse yourself in foreign cultures, your courage, integrity, flexibility and excellent judgment will be our most essential assets. You will interact with people around the world, speak native languages, provide intelligence analysis of global events and make an invaluable difference to our national security.

DIA has several specific occupational opportunities, including:

• Collection Operations: Plan and conduct HUMINT collection, reporting on intelligence information obtained from human sources.
• Collection Support: Direct and support HUMINT collectors who are conducting field operational activities.
• Collection Requirements: Ensure that reports from current HUMINT collection operations are relevant, timely and accurate, and that they are disseminated in a timely manner to intelligence community analysts, Combatant Commanders and policymakers.
• Collection Targeting: Conduct research and assist HUMINT collectors in the field in locating and contacting potential sources of intelligence.
• Staff Support: Manage HUMINT collection operations, from training and administration to career management, policy and guidance.

Serve among best-in-class professionals on the front lines of the nation's defense, collecting, analyzing and reporting intelligence that ensures a clear understanding of military capabilities and the intentions of foreign governments and non-state entities worldwide. Define precise information needs by orchestrating technical and human resources in the field and by producing intelligence for US military forces and decision makers within the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and throughout government.

• Military Capabilities: Analyze a nation's ability to mobilize and sustain its armed forces, destroy strategic and tactical targets, employ denial and deception and achieve specified wartime objectives.
• Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Intelligence: As a biologist, chemist or nuclear engineer/physicist, evaluate existing and nascent WMD programs and determine how we can counter the spread of WMD-related materials and technologies.
• Scientific and Technical Intelligence: Evaluate basic and applied sciences and technologies with warfare potential and assess the characteristics, capabilities and limitations of foreign weapons systems.
• Political/Military Intelligence: Examine government structures, political parties, national policies and foreign relations and their impact on a country's defense doctrine, strategy and military organization.
• Transportation and Logistics Intelligence: Analyze transportation systems and networks, from production to inventory and supply capabilities.
• Missile and Space Intelligence: Assess foreign air defense, command and control components and short-range ballistic, anti-tank guided and anti-ballistic missile systems.
• Medical Intelligence: Investigate foreign military and civilian health care capabilities and trends, from worldwide infectious diseases and environmental health risks to militarily significant life science technologies.
• Crisis/Operational Intelligence Support: Tailor intelligence to support operational military and crisis-related requirements, assess target vulnerability and improve intelligence support to Combatant Commands for humanitarian and noncombatant evacuation operations.
• Economics: Examine economic factors that affect a nation's ability to support its armed forces, conduct military operations and project power and influence.
• Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT): Oversee development, coordination, direction and implementation of the US MASINT system to provide technical, actionable intelligence for military operations, counterterrorism, counterproliferation, arms control, treaty monitoring and counterdrug and environmental monitoring during peacetime, natural disasters, crises or war.
• Collection Requirements: Manage all-source (human, signals, imagery, measurement and signature) intelligence requirements, tasking them to specific collection assets that support indication and warning predictions and analytical products.
• Collection Planning: Coordinate Combatant Command and DIA positions, providing requirements for current and future collection systems and developing Department of Defense (DoD) and national collection programs.
• Counterintelligence (CI): Safeguard DoD, DIA, Combatant Command and Joint Task Force personnel, information, facilities, systems, operations and plans by managing CI, security, force protection and CI analytical programs and products.
• Intelligence Officer (HUMINT): Serve in the areas of Technology, Training, Evaluation or Operations, traveling around the world, living and working in international cities and seeking out timely information.

Information Systems

Leverage your information technology (IT) talents, skills and experience to develop and maintain highly sophisticated information systems that enable the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to effectively store, process, analyze and disseminate collected intelligence. Your individual contribution will provide the accurate, up-to-date information we need in order to monitor and respond immediately to world-changing situations. Your support is imperative to our mission and to key intelligence producers and decision makers worldwide — including the Department of Defense.

From information assurance and systems security to administration and architectural planning, you will provide the intelligence community with overall planning, management, operation and maintenance of our automated information systems. You will also:

• Deliver crucial technology systems to produce and disseminate imagery, publications and other cutting-edge and Web-based intelligence products
• Initiate and assess systems capabilities to support specific intelligence requirements
• Evaluate technology that enhances our systems
• Develop technical standards and specifications
• Create and maintain computer-based systems and applications programs

Your involvement in DIA's projects will be diverse — from producing hand-held devices to developing large enterprise servers that collect and process huge volumes of data.
