June 21, 2012 - The former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Michael Leiter visited the Defense Intelligence Agency's Joint Military Attaché School (JMAS ) on June 21 and shared his thoughts on the role of the attaché corps with the latest class of military ambassadors. Defense attaches and defense attaché support staff receive 13 weeks of formalized training at the JMAS in preparation for their assignment at U.S. Embassies around the world as part of the U.S. Ambassador's diplomatic team. As Leiter congratulated the class on their new assignments, he emphasized the critical importance of their contributions to the ambassador and world events. Photo by DIA.

DIA is the nation’s premier all-source military intelligence organization.

It provides the nation’s most authoritative assessments of foreign military intentions and capabilities. The agency’s four core competencies -- human intelligence, all-source analysis, counterintelligence and technical intelligence -- enable military operations while also informing policy-makers at the defense and national levels.

DIA’s mission is unique and no other agency matches its military expertise across such a broad range of intelligence disciplines.
