December 13, 2011 - Congressman Mike Rogers, Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, addressed attendees at the Senior Military Intelligence Officers' Conference (SMIOC) Dec. 13. The SMIOC brings together the directors of intelligence of the combatant commands; the intelligence chiefs of the military services; leaders from the intelligence agencies, and other Defense and Intelligence Community officials for a review of issues and concerns affecting the Defense Intelligence Community. The conference is a semi-annual, one-day meeting hosted by the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency LTG Ronald L. Burgess Jr. In addition to Chairman Rogers, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Dr. Michael Vickers, the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, and Ms. Letitia Long, the Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, attended and addressed the group.
DIA is the nation’s premier all-source military intelligence organization.
It provides the nation’s most authoritative assessments of foreign military intentions and capabilities. The agency’s four core competencies -- human intelligence, all-source analysis, counterintelligence and technical intelligence -- enable military operations while also informing policy-makers at the defense and national levels.
DIA’s mission is unique and no other agency matches its military expertise across such a broad range of intelligence disciplines.
