Scud B Ballistic Missile, by Dennis Mosher, 1978
The Soviets first deployed the Scud B in the late 1950s. A tactical mobile ballistic missile, it can deliver a conventional, nuclear, biological, or chemical warhead to a target about 320 kilometers (200 miles) away. The Soviets exported Scud B missiles to their Warsaw Pact allies and to such countries as Iraq, China, and North Korea. Iran produced a Scud B variant called the Shahab 1 with the help of North Korea. It remains a major proliferation threat in the world.
