Market research is an essential component to maximizing small business participation in acquisitions at the prime contract and subcontracting levels. Market research is the process of collecting, organizing, maintaining, analyzing, and presenting data that enables activities to achieve the best level of competition. It shall be conducted on an ongoing basis to identify effectively the capabilities, including the capabilities of small businesses and new entrants into Federal contracting, which are available in the market place for meeting agency requirements. This process utilizes various formats, to include, but not limited to, sources sought announcements, request for information, capability briefings, match making, database searches, etc.
