Welcome to the National Defense Intelligence College

The National Defense Intelligence College is chartered by the Department of Defense to educate military and civilian intelligence professionals and to conduct and disseminate intelligence and intelligence-related research. The College's Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence (MSSI) degree and Bachelor of Science in Intelligence (BSI) degree are both authorized by the Congress and signed into law by the President. The College is accredited by the Committee on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools.
As the nation's only accredited institution of higher learning awarding the MSSI and BSI degrees, the College is educating the next generation of leaders in a national-level, joint service academic environment for their roles and responsibilities in the 21st century. More specifically, to meet the requirements of sponsoring Services, departments and agencies, the College is educating future intelligence, defense, law enforcement, and national security leaders who will be full partners with their policy, planning and operations counterparts, graduates prepared to address the revolution in military affairs and the new range of intelligence challenges to the nation, graduates prepared to anticipate and tailor the intelligence required at the national, theater, and tactical levels.
All prospective students must be members of the U.S. Armed Forces or federal government. Teaching and research at the College are conducted up to the highest levels of security classification -- a central, essential capability for the academic field of intelligence -- with all students, faculty, and staff holding appropriate clearances. Award of the MSSI degree includes the requirement for the successful research and writing of a Master’s thesis. Academic freedom is central to the life of the College. Research by both students and faculty is making a direct contribution to the national security interests of the United States and to the theory, doctrine, and methodology of intelligence.

Again, welcome to the National Defense Intelligence College.

A. Denis Clift
